Norwex Review: Didn’t know how bad I needed this!

IMG_1052

I don’t do “party” type direct sales stuff.  I’ve always felt uneasy about leveraging relationships to get free stuff or make money.  Just a quirk of mine.  But I am always looking for great products to simplify and improve my life.  So when a friend, JESSE ALTERMAN contacted me to try a product (I had never heard of) she was selling, I was skeptical.  But she offered to send me some products for free to try in exchange for an HONEST review, no strings attached, I thought is might be fun.

Norwex is an up and coming company started by two moms in Norway.  They sell products to help us create safe haven homes, homes that are clean, practical, and free from toxins.  You can read about the company on their website here.  Trying the products came at the perfect time because our house is on the market so I’m doing a lot of cleaning and polishing up.  (Very hard to sustain with two dogs and a foot of snow on the ground) I also loved the idea that I could get my home radically clean using only water!

The promise of being able to eliminate chemicals from my home, and from my budget, as well as eliminate mold, viruses, bacteria and dust mites was very interesting.  While I don’t have a lab to test some of the promises (They do and were able to prove that surfaces were 99% germ free thanks to the silver ions within the products), below is my personal review of the products I’ve tried.  These are my honest opinions after trying the products for myself:

ENVIROCLOTH:  This was one of the free products I received.  All I can say is “how on earth did I not know about this?!?!”  It is even better than promised.  It will clean your worst messes.  (Think about the jar of hot bacon grease I knocked over recently) Everything in my home shines!  I’ve used it in my kitchen, baths, car, and laundry room.  It cleaned my house and got things clean that I never thought could be clean again.  My 20-year-old cook top looks factory new!  If I could only have one Norwex product, it would be this!

From the Norwex website…

*Key Features
Norwex Microfiber has the ability to remove up to 99% of bacteria from a surface when following the proper care and use instructions.
Contains our exclusive BacLock* agent
Made with fiber that has a maximum length of more than 10 million feet (3 million meters) for more effective cleaning power
At 1/200th the size of a human hair, Norwex Microfiber is one of the most innovative products in the cleaning industry
Now thicker and more absorbent to pick up and hold more dust, dirt and debris
Can be used dry for dusting, or wet for general cleaning and heavily soiled areas
Open spaces in the fibers created by the splitting process enable the cloth to lift away dust and dirt and absorb several times its own weight in water.
Can be folded and refolded to create multiple surfaces for nonstop cleaning
*Key Benefits
Removes EVERYTHING from all surfaces.
The BacLock* in the cloth—our micro silver antibacterial agent—goes to work to self-purify and inhibit odors from bacteria, mold and mildew growth within the cloth within 24 hours so that it is ready to use again.
Cuts cleaning time in half by using only water
No need for harmful chemicals
Saves money by using only water
Eliminates the need for paper towels, creating less waste and less paper dust in the home
Eliminates residual “chemical muck” left behind by typical cotton cloths and harsh cleaning products
Traps dust and grime in the cloth and leaves surfaces cleaner, so you won’t have to clean as often
Used dry for dusting, it creates static electricity that lifts the smallest particles of dust and dirt up into the cloth and prevents them from resettling on surfaces.
Used damp for general cleaning and heavily soiled areas, it picks up everything using water. Cleaned surfaces become so clean that new dirt and dust do not return as quickly.
Cleans any surface that would normally be cleaned with soap and water, including bathrooms (taps, sinks, tubs, counters, toilets and more), walls, windows, floors, vehicles, toys, tools, kitchen appliances and surfaces, outdoor furniture and much more.

WINDOW CLOTH:

This cloth has all the features of the envirocloth but is smoother and perfect for mirrors and glass.  It also shined my granite counters and stainless steel appliances to a perfect glossy shine.  Use it with just a spray bottle of water to mist the surface and wipe clean.  Now I have no finger prints, toothpaste spatters or hairspray over-spray on any of my mirrors!  My windows and glass doors have zero nose art from my dogs!  And I used only water!

DUSTING MITT:

This Mitt can even get little ones in on the cleaning.  I used it for dusting all my furniture and electronics.  Many of my surfaces had a residue left over from dusting sprays I had used in the past.  The mitt removed all that and left my things clean.  I also noticed the dust did not return for quite a while since there was nothing for it to stick to anymore.  I did blinds, ceiling fans, fixtures, air vents, leather sofa, and books too!  All the dust was trapped deep in the Mitt and stayed there.  Only downside is that the piping around the mitt does not hold dirt like the other fabric so what gets on there can fall back on the surface you are cleaning.  Just being picky.

MAKEUP REMOVAL CLOTH

The little lavender cloth in the top picture is the microfiber makeup cloth.  It claims to remove all traces of makeup and products from the face, as well as cleanse it of bacteria using only water.  I can say that it does indeed remove all makeup including waterproof mascara from my face.  At first I felt like that microfiber “grabby” feeling was tugging too much on my aging skin around my eyes.  But I came to realize I had rung it out too much.  Keeping it wet instead of damp is the key.  If I had a child with acne or eczema I would use nothing but this cloth on their skin.  No chemicals, no germs.  It could be a game changer.  It was a surprisingly good exfoliator and I felt like my serums and moisturizers sunk into my skin a lot better after using it.

CLEANING PASTE

This is a miracle in a little recyclable tub!  It contains only Marble Flour, Natural Soap and traces of Coconut Oil.  But it cleaned a white ceramic frying pan that I thought would have burn marks and stains forever.  It will clean rust, hard water deposits on shower doors and toilets, permanent marker, scuff marks and more.  I purchased a tub after trying the sample Jesse gave me.

WOOL DRYER BALLS:

I can’t even tell you how much I love these.  You can see their cuteness in the top picture.  I put them in the dryer with my wet laundry and they fluff, reduce static and freshen without the vent/lint trap clogging dryer sheets that put chemicals on my clothes and fill up landfills.  The best part????  I can put a few drops of essential oil on them before I toss them in and my laundry smells heavenly!  ( I purchased them, they were not a gift)

SUPERIOR MOP SET

Everything the EnviroCloth does but at the end of a mop!  The dry pad picks up dog hair like a magnet.  Dirt and dust balls stick to the pad and shake off easily into the trash.  The mop head extends past the mop base so it dusts your baseboards at the same time with out bending.  The wet side gets grease, mud, spills, and everything else off my floors using only water and leaves it sanitized!  The mop heads pop into the washer and come out spotless.  I purchased this product.

Needless to say, I give these products 10 out of 10!  I am a true believer.  Since trying the things Jesse sent, I have gone back to purchase several more things:

KITCHEN CLOTH AND TOWEL SET

LAUNDRY SOAP (you only need a tablespoon and its environmentally friendly)

BATH TOWEL TRIO ( The middle sized towel is perfect for wrapping wet hair and makes my hair dry SO fast)

Two more EnviroCloths (one for bathrooms and one for upstairs.)

STAINLESS STEAL STRAWS(because I put essential oils in my water)

PRODUCE BAG SET ( I love that you can purchase, scan, wash and store produce right from one reusable bag)

As my budget permits, I plan to buy even more products.  Next on my wish list is the entry mat and the silicone lids.  Since I am not buying paper towels, cleaning products, dryer sheets or Swiffer products, I can do that.  I love the safe haven concept in my home.  I love protecting the environment.  All links go directly to Jesse Alterman’s website so if you should feel like trying her products you can order from her there.
